Keep Left

The Cost Of Development

Kibera slum in Kenya is Africa's biggest urban slum dwelling and one of the largest slums in the world. The slum houses over 1 million residents in Kenya's capital Nairobi, who cannot afford decent dwellings in the city. Demolition of houses has kicked off in the Slums to pave way for the construction of Ksh 2 billion link road. Over 30,000 people have been displaced. There is no compensation or relocation yet by the government for the affected families. Among the demolished are two schools affecting children from around the area.
